 Bellydancing

Janeena, MASTER teacher of the Art of Belly Dance has studied this intriguing ancient art form for over a quarter of a century. After many years on the performance circuit, she now teaches students and dance enthusiasts how to shake, shimmy and undulate their bodies to exotic rhythms of Middle-Eastern beats. She coaches students on how to increase self-confidence while embracing the graceful movements of the dance. A typical class begins with warms ups and breathing exercises, step by step instruction, technique, performance enhancement and demonstration of each movement. Belly Dancing invites creativity and imagination, opening up social and cultural circles. The dance is expressive and communicates harmony and attracts positive energy. Belly Dance is a non-impact yet high energy exercise for the prevention of osteoporosis in older people. Many of the moves involve isolations, which improves flexibility of the torso. Dancing with the veil can help build strength in the upper body, arm and shoulders. Playing the finger cymbals trains fingers to work independently and builds strength. The legs and long muscles of the back are strengthened by hip movements. Through the power of dance, we are able to reduce stress, increase flexibility and feel motivated and inspired.  Come join us every Saturday at 12 noon, right here in Rockville Centre Long Island.
